Chili Supper to support Eastern Iowa Honor Flights November 21

The annual Chili Supper to support the Eastern Iowa Honor Flights will be held on Thursday, November 21 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Vinton Fire Station. This is the same evening as the Holiday Parade. This event is sponsored by the Vinton Lions Club with a freewill donation being collected. 

Fireside Read-Aloud Series Featuring Margie Ortgiesen

Join us for our Fireside Read-Aloud series at the library. Margie Ortgiesen from our Friends of the Library Group will read aloud on the following dates:*Tuesday, November 26th, 6pm: "The Thanksgiving Visitor" by Truman Capote*Tuesday, December 10th, 6pm: "A Christmas Memory" by Truman Capote, Part I of II*Tuesday, December 17th, 6pm: "A Christmas Memory" by Truman Capote, Part II of IIHot cocoa and cookies will be provided.

Andrew Carnegie's Riches in Iowa: Vinton November 14, 6:00 p.m.

Andrew Carnegie Andrew Carnegie's Riches in Iowa: Vinton, will be presented by Dr. Shana L. Stuart of the Carnegie Libraries in Iowa Project.  Dr. Stuart will be sharing information on our library's history. This event will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.at the Vinton Public Library located at 510 2nd Ave., Vinton. The event is free and open to the public.

Open Craft Night at the Library November 7

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., The Vinton Public Library will hold an Open Craft Night. Everyone is welcome. Come along and bring your favorite craft as we enjoy the company of fellow crafters. The event will run until 7:30 p.m.

Quilting Workshop on Saturday, November 2, 2024

The Vinton Public Library will host a Quilting Workshop on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (extended hours).There will be machines, fabric and experienced quilters on hand to help you work on your block for our Community Quilt Project.

Upcycle Gift Bags, Bows & Tags, November 14th, 6:00PM - 7:30PM at Benton County Nature CenterReduce, reuse, recycle, gift! We will be making gift bags, creating unique bows and custom gift tags during this program. Bring in old calendars, wrapping paper and cards to give them new life! BCC will have some items to create a gift bag, tags and bows. Feel free to bring snacks and beverages.

Art Scavenger Hunt deadline Nov. 1st

The Vinton Guild of Fine Arts Scavenger Hunt is coming to a close on November 1st. The Scavenger Hunt was undertaken this year in celebration of the Guild’s 10 year anniversary, and involves 25 intriguing questions about the various public artworks that VGFA has sponsored and/or produced since its inception in 2014. Van Horne Public Library to host Author Charlotte Gunnufson, Saturday October 26

Iowa Author Charlotte Gunnufson will be reading from her books, Halloween Hustle and Dream Submarine at the Van Horne Public Library on Saturday, October 26 at 9:30 AM.
